William Hupp established the Electric Motors Company back in 1912 to provide the wiring in local grain mills and elevators.
When William passed away in 1938, his son, Julian Hupp, took over the business, focusing instead on the sale and repair of electric motors, motor controls, and power tools.
In 1963, the new name of Hupp Electric Motors was adopted.
After a devastating fire in 1968, construction began on the current location
at
275 33rd Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
